And that's where Rage's co-op mode comes in. While id Software hopes Rage Combat Rally gives gamers something "uniquely Rage" in the competitive online space, there's also room for cooperative gameplay. Players can progress and level-up, allowing them to earn more loadouts, weapons, vehicle types and other options the more they play. And Rage Combat Rally won't take place in a vacuum, either. The gameplay demo I was shown saw the four players on the map at the time working to build up multipliers that allow gamers to earn more points for scoring kills. What's more, Rage Combat Rally doesn't only involve killing your friends (though that's certainly something you'll be doing, especially in deathmatch-related modes). And more surprising yet, Rage Combat Rally only accommodates up to six players at a time in an era where most shooters try to allow for as many players as possible. Instead, Rage Combat Rally allows gamers to drive heavily-armed buggies in violent vehicular combat. That's right – Rage's online functionality doesn't involve on-foot modes at all. ![]() Rather, the focus is on modes that, as the developers themselves say, give gamers an experience that's "uniquely Rage." Rage's competitive online features revolve around a series of modes under the umbrella of Rage Combat Rally. ![]() More traditional modes like the aforementioned deathmatch don't appear in Rage.
